1 Week Game Jam - MOBA - Inspired by League of Legends and DoTA2

In this 1 Week Game Jam project while working at E1, I worked with Mike Baldwin to practice some Networked Multiplayer in Unity. We started with the Boss Room Unity Sample Project, and adapted into a Player vs Player MOBA experience. This was a quick and fun project taking apart the Boss Room sample, and researching Netcode for Gameobjects.

This game looks very simple, but has a lot of hidden features below the hood. Jungle monsters use identical respawning mechanics to DOTA2, where they respawn every minute if the spawning box is empty, meaning strategic gameplay like pulling camps to stack them is viable. Kill XP is also divided similarly to how League of Legends works, with catchup xp, total xp bonuses for duo laning players, and xp amounts and level thresholds being aligned with League of Legends. There's lots more to talk about this fun small project, but it successfully served its purpose helping us break down the technical viability of using Netcode for Gameobjects in future products.
